There is a tree across the street.
It stands below a street lamp the solely illuminated presence against a scrim painted with shadows.
The light from the lamp plays on her face, each peace of her dances, she is dripping with green.
Her branches bow: the embodiment of humility.
I wait: breathless as She exhales.
The wind: speaks to Her a word He said.
She knows: that time has passed since then,
that many of her sisters have been pressed with His pen,
but that His voice still echoes within.
In September:
The angle of the sun's light begins to change.
The oceans of time have evaporated into the sky,
the rain clouds of rhyme have drizzled into Her mind,
the earth beneath Her flexes and smiles: winter will be coming soon.
The cold wind begins to bite at her skin.
The green in her leaves renders itself gold.
Gravity carries Her offering back to Her source.
Naked and lithe She bears only Her soul.
Her limbs render plain against the pale gray sky.
With impossible grace she reaches out to the void.
She shows me her scars, chips and pocks in her bark.
At one with her pain, she does not cry.
For she knows that winter is the bringer of life.

morning star
the light has faded
gone from the sky.
the booze has softened
our senses and minds.
when all your friends are gone,
you are left alone to lie.
hollow.
till the morning star rise.
gone from the sky.
the booze has softened
our senses and minds.
when all your friends are gone,
you are left alone to lie.
hollow.
till the morning star rise.

Ache
ache: "to have or suffer a continuous, dull pain"
I ache.
I am restless.
This lingering lack of achievement consumes me.
Yet its satiation does not fulfill me.
I am not empty.
Yet I am not whole.
Whither to my soul should turn?
Buddha, I yearn.
I ache.
I am restless.
This lingering lack of achievement consumes me.
Yet its satiation does not fulfill me.
I am not empty.
Yet I am not whole.
Whither to my soul should turn?
Buddha, I yearn.

Open your eyes
"If you want to see something, you should open your eyes...the most important thing is this moment, not some day in the future. We have to make our effort in this moment, not some day in the future. This is the most important thing for our practice."

New direction.
I think I would like very much to take this blog in a new direction. I doubt that there are many readers to begin with so this shouldn't make to many waves. I would like to continue with some poetry and also include some quotes and musings from various things that I am reading. This effort is two fold, the primary reason being an excuse to read more, and the secondary being a chance to fulfill one of the three habits of successful people:
1.) They don't complain
2.) They make lists
3.) They speak to some audience

Things I should have said #1
Scenario:
In class, professor is discussing the effects of the rise of Christianity on popular artistic style. Posits a hypothetical to get the class involved, says: If joe here was your king, and he converted to christianity what would you as his subjects then do?
Actually Said:
"We would convert to Christianity."
Should have said:
"We would riot in the streets, for equality and peace. The gutters would brim with the blood of his queen. From nipple of Christ we would finally be weened."
